About Indigo Rickshaw

Hi, I’m Rina.

I’m a parent, homeschooler, infectious diseases physician, and the person behind Indigo Rickshaw.

It all started because I wanted a portable art kit.

That was the whole plan.

Then I discovered watercolors. Then I wondered about neons. Then shimmers. Then pigments. Then why some paints cost so much. Then whether I could make my own.

This was not a productive line of questioning.

The portable art kit somehow turned into palettes, journals, stacks of pigments, strong opinions about color, and an alarming number of tiny containers. The portable pouch still doesn’t exist, which is honestly rude considering all the trouble it has caused.

Today, Indigo Rickshaw is my watercolor studio.

I make paints inspired by places, experiments, rescued pigments, and the occasional happy accident. I keep every recipe, but only a small inventory, which means I’m always free to chase the next idea instead of making the same color forever. If a Studio Color sells out, I’m always happy to make another batch. Every now and then, though, a color is made from rescued or finite pigments. Those really are one of a kind.

I’m still trying to make that portable art kit.

I’m just taking the scenic route.
